The solution to all your psychometric needs!
After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Fayetteville State University, Dr. Felicia Heru worked as a Case Manager in North Carolina. In this position, she created person-centered treatment plans for individuals with developmental disabilities and substance abuse issues in order for them to achieve their personal goals and achieve daily living skills. Upon moving to Baltimore, she taught high school special education in a self-contained classroom. Seeing the need for more research in assessment regarding education, learning and achievement, Felicia pursued a graduate degree. She completed her Master of Arts degree in Experimental Psychology at Towson University. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Graduate Program in Psychometrics at Morgan State University. Dr. Heru’s research interests are in academic achievement, non-cognitive factors (resilience, motivation, self-efficacy), culturally responsive teaching, instrument development and program evaluation. Her dissertation, entitled “Identification of Differential Item Functioning of Self-Esteem in a Sample of High Achieving Minority Students” is true reflection of her research interest.
Dr. Heru works as the Research Manager specializing in data analysis and research design. She is a Core Team member for Morgan State University’s Equity Academy grant, which focuses on evidence-based interventions for improving student learning and success. As an adjunct faculty member, Dr. Heru teaches Scientific Methods in Psychology and Experimental Psychology.
In her free time, Dr. Heru likes to complete jigsaw puzzles and play Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell on PS3.
